Lawn Care Business Websites - 5 Reasons Why You Absolutely MUST Have One

Having worked with many lawn care and landscaping companies to improve the results of their marketing efforts, at some point in my conversations with clients this one question always arises, "Do I really need a website?"

99% of the time, without hesitation my response is a resounding, "Yes, Yes, Yes."

I've heard all sorts of reasons and excuses as to why someone thinks they don't need to have a website such as: "I'm just a small one-man operation, websites are for the big boys," "I can't afford to pay a web designer," "No one's looking for lawn care service online," "I don't have the foggiest idea about where to start," and the all encompassing, "it would just be a waste of time and money."

However, as the information 'superhighway' continues to grow and mature, the importance of staking your claim has never been more important than it is right now.

You have the choice of doing nothing and being left behind or you can take the necessary steps to ensure your place along this increasingly valuable piece of marketing real estate.

If you're serious about growing your lawn care business, you can't afford NOT to have a website.

I'd like to share with you 5 reasons why you absolutely MUST have a website if your goal is to grow your lawn care or landscaping business.

1. A website makes you look professional.

Given the popularity of the internet and the way in which society has embraced it, having a website has become a stamp of legitimacy. When someone asks about your business, if you aren't able to give them a "www dot something" as part of your response, it raises questions in the prospects mind as to whether or not you're serious about doing business in today's marketplace.

Surprisingly enough, your website doesn't need to be an elaborate creation done by some fancy web designer costing you your first born child. In fact, most small businesses go overboard when creating their company website and it ends up doing more harm than good.

A good website should appear professional but will also be simple, clean, and easy to navigate. Don't make the mistake of using lots flashing images, annoying music, or blinking cursors.

2. A website allows you to appear bigger than you really are.

Many times, lawn care companies struggle to get the bigger, better paying jobs because they are a small operation. A website can help give the illusion of being bigger than you actually are. This will in turn allow you to project your business as one that is qualified and prepared to take on bigger and better service contracts.

Now I'm certainly not telling anyone to go out and lie about who you are, but no one needs to know that your business is made up of just you, your wife, and a few employees. All that really matters is that you're prepared and qualified to do a good job and the internet gives you a perfect opportunity to line up with the big boys and project this image.

In fact, the internet gives you the opportunity to line up head to head with anyone in your area and clean their marketing clocks. In most cases, the majority of your competition doesn't have the first clue about how to use the internet, which in turn gives you a distinct advantage when it comes to capitalizing on this powerful marketing medium.

3. A website allows you capture contact information for potential customers.

In my opinion, this is the most important reason why your lawn care business needs a website and this is what will give you the power to quickly stomp your competition. Even though the internet is the information 'superhighway', it's also the most powerful marketing medium ever known to man.

If your site is designed properly and is being visited by qualified prospects (live in your area, pay for lawn care services, etc.), you are sitting on a gold mine of potential new business for you. You should do everything possible to capture the contact information of every visitor that comes to your site.

Most businesses make the mistake of simply putting up a website that's equivalent to an online brochure, but this is a huge waste of time and money.

By setting up a mechanism to capture the contact information of your site's visitors, you're setting yourself up to take advantage of reason number four:

4. Allows you to continually market to your prospects and customers for FREE.

Successful marketing is all about finding the cheapest and most effective method for getting your message in front interested prospects. By capturing the contact information of your site's visitors, you now have the ability to market your services again and again and again through both your website and via email.

With a website in place, at no added expense you are able to provide valuable information that positions you as an expert in lawn care. It also gives you the ability to continually present new offers and services to those people that have expressed an interest in your service and it frees your marketing dollars to be used elsewhere to help grow your business.

5. Gives you a presence in the marketplace 24/7.

How much do you think it would cost you to have a salesperson out drumming up new business all day everyday? How much do you think it would cost to have someone available at all hours of the day and night to answer questions or inquiries about your business? Let's just say it would be A LOT.

I can't think of a cheaper way to have a continuous presence in the marketplace 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 52 weeks a year. Just imagine being able to contact potential customers, deliver a powerful sales message, and answer customer questions on a continuous and unlimited basis? Look at it as a salesperson that never sleeps, never eats, never calls in sick, never takes vacation, and best of all, it never asks for a raise!

Now is the time to stake your claim on the information superhighway!

As the internet continues to increase in popularity, its importance in the business world will only grow and expand as well. Most businesses don't yet realize the power and potential of the internet for reaching targeted prospects, but don't expect that to last much longer. Those businesses that are serious about growing in the future are beginning to recognize this and are making the necessary steps to capitalize.

If you haven't already, now is the time for your business to jump on the information superhighway and use it to cruise to new heights.

Section 179 Depreciation - Are You Eligible? Can It Cut Your Taxes?

Most ordinary taxpayers are not familiar with using depreciation to save income tax dollars. But if you qualify, it can save you hundreds or even thousands of dollars on your tax return each year. If you ever work from home, run a small or side business or even handle your own investments online, you may qualify for some form of a depreciation deduction.

Even if you are a business person that has been using depreciation for years, you may think that your CPA or tax adviser is handling this matter for you, but the following factors could change the method of depreciation that works best for you. You need to let your tax preparer know the answers to these before a proper determination can be made as to which method is best for your current and future years.

Factors to Consider:

Two Main Depreciation Types: Depreciation deductions for most people come in two forms. Here is a brief description of them so you can make a valid comparison.

1. Section 179 Depreciation: With this method, you take the entire deduction upfront in the year that the expense is incurred. If you use the item over 50% for business purposes, you can take your entire applicable deduction all at once. The current maximum amount for section 179 depreciation is $500,000 annually which makes it appealing to larger businesses as well.

2, Multi-Year Depreciation: There are several methods of multi-year depreciation, but the main focus is that you take a smaller amount upfront and then deduct a similar amount each year for 3, 5, 7 or more years into the future depending on the type of property you are depreciating.

Possible Uses: Many companies have begun encouraging their employees to telecommute or work from home. This can be a great opportunity for the employee and it may create some additional deductions for the home worker. If you establish one room in your home that is exclusively used as your office, furnish it with a desk, files and a computer, these items may be able to be taken as a depreciation expense on your taxes. The same holds true if you run a small business, side business or handle your own investments exclusively online from a home office.

Business Use Percentage: One of the key tests that the IRS looks at is your business use as a percentage of the total use of the items that you are looking to depreciate. If you are using an item over 50% for business and it qualifies for Section 179, you could take the entire amount off your taxes in year one. If it is under 50% usage or not a qualified item, you will be forced to use multi-year depreciation.

Timing Issues: When looking at whether to take the deduction all upfront or over a period of years, you have to look at your expectations for future revenue, deductions and additional depreciation. If you believe your depreciation is a one time event and your income is going to increase each year, it may make sense to take the depreciation over a period of years instead of all upfront. But if your income is high and you expect more deductions and depreciation in the future, take it all now and save as much as possible.

Time Value Of Money: As with any financial decision, the time value of money can have a significant impact on your decision. Saving a tax dollar today instead of spreading it over several years can have an impact on the amount saved. If you are dealing with larger dollars amounts, you definitely have to add a time value calculation to your decision. If the amounts are small, the impact is less vital.

Summary: There are many more details about the use of section 179 depreciation which can be found on the IRS website, including which types of property qualify. The purpose of this article is to help the average taxpayer realize that you too may be able to take advantage of some of the same tax benefits big corporations use. If you are unsure if you qualify, ask your tax adviser and show them this article. Every dollar saved helps you one step closer to your other goals.

The Key to a Lovely Look and Perfect Make Up is Foundation

When applying make up, the first thing any girl reaches for is her foundation compact. Foundation is also the setting agent, acting as a barrier between the colour and your skins natural oils, which would otherwise dissolve the make up.

Before purchasing new foundation, you want to confirm what your skin type is, as this can define the type and color of foundation you'll purchase. Before applying eye shadow or lipstick, you want to create the base on which you can outline your look.

If you have a ordinary skin type, you may use pretty much any formulation, but choosing a liquid foundation will give sufficient coverage without looking caked onto your face. Many of these available on the market also contain additional powder particles, to take in any oil the skin produces. Foundation color falls into 2 classes - those with yellow pigments and those with pink tones. The perfect time to pick a colour is when your skin is at its most natural shade, so try to avoid buying foundation after you have been on vacation or have used self-tan. The best way to do this is to utilise clean fingers to apply tiny dots to the areas most wanting coverage, mixing into each area at a time till the face is complete.

Fair skin generally has pink tones, whereas the most typical yellow-toned skin variations are Asian, sallow and black skin. Liquid foundation has a tendency to appear far more natural when applied with a foundation brush.

For standard skin, application will rely on whether you have chosen a cream-to-powder liquid or a straightforward powder foundation.

Powder should be applied with a huge powder brush, but be aware that you won't get the same level of coverage as you would with liquid.

Working the brush outwards gives a rather more even finish, but try avoiding using too much around the eye area or it may end up looking caked.

With dry skin, cream foundation should be used sparingly, as a little tends to go a long way. Nevertheless it is great stand by if you're pushed for time and need a quick make up fix. This is why getting the right colour match is so important right off the bat.

Owl Pellet Kits - Exploring the Natural World in a Package

To be able to do owl pellet dissections, owl pellet kits are convenient to use. Exploring the natural world can be fun and engaging when you are using owl pellet products that are safe and easy to use for hands-on, inquiry-based learning.

Owl lab kits are created to elicit the best from a classroom science experiment. Owl study kits from reliable and reputable suppliers include heat treated pellets that are individually wrapped in aluminum foil. Pellets are collected naturally in the wild and every one of them is unique. Most suppliers usually offer kits that have student worksheets with detailed anatomical illustrations of the bones of common owl prey. All kits include teaching strategies, questions and answers, and dichotomous bone and skull identification sheets or charts. Some will also include a food web poster.

There are elementary owl lab kits designed for the elementary to middle school grades, advanced pellet lab kits designed for high school and college students, and there are mini pellet lab kits designed for the individual student. Owl lab kits for a class are also available.

When using specially prepared owl pellet study kits, it is easier to learn the history of owls, their diet, and how to identify skulls and other bones that are found in the pellets. Owl projects can be used to show the order of the food chain and where the owl fit in the ecosystem. There are pellet kits for a discovery approach for individual learning and there is the direct experiment approach that leads to specific lab results.

Investing - Long Term Option

Long-Term Investment Long term investments includes investments which cover longer periods of time. It can be held for a period of years (between 5 years to 25 years} or more. Your choice of the type of investment depends on your risk outlook.

Treasury Bills

This comes in-block and is used by government to help the public and to prevent too much money in circulation. The minimum depends on the government involved but is mostly in multiples of 10,000.

Bonds: Bonds come in various forms.

They're known as "fixed-income" securities because the amount of income the bond generates each year is "fixed," or set, when the bond is sold. From an investor's point of view, bonds are very similar to Certificate of Deposits, except that they are issued by the government or by corporations instead of banks.

Stock: Stocks are a way for individuals to own parts of businesses. A share or stock represents a proportional share of ownership in a company. As the value of the company changes, the value of the share in that company rises and falls.

They can be Ordinary Shares or Preference Shares. Debenture loan stocks are also available in some companies.

Choosing long term investment means an Investor is comfortable enough to overlook fluctuations to his investment i.e after a series of short term investments, resources are now pooled together to obtain a longer term investment portfolio. This investment option means that you cannot pull out your investment capital on impulse (at least not as easily as going to the bank to withdraw your savings)!. An Investor in the long term must be more versatile. Monitor your investment by watching stock indices, obtaining an analysis of the various companies you have invested in.

How Can We Power Up Exoskeleton Rehabilitator Medical Devices If Batteries Are the Weak Link?

It is probably impossible to know everything that can go wrong before you start. Nevertheless, there are inherent challenges to technology in just about any innovation, along with the fact that there are limits to the current state of the technology when trying to devise additional applications. Let me give you a case in point. Not long ago, I was talking to a gentleman who wishes to create exoskeletons to help train the motor skills, muscles, and brain of cerebral palsy victims.

Now then, if you know anything about this, you've probably seen the equipment in the clinics which are used for therapy. Generally it consists of some sort of apparatus to hold the individual, a very slow-moving treadmill, all hooked up to a bunch of computer equipment and analytical displays. However in this case it would be different, the exoskeleton would maintain its balance and you could walk down the sidewalk with it, for miles if you wanted, all while helping the person learn to walk, and allowing their brain to work around the damaged area to control their muscles. Well, that's the idea anyway.

Of course, there are limitations to the battery power. You probably know this if you've been out and about using your iPad, or iPhone, and after a while the battery goes dead, and that's all she wrote. Battery power is challenged and limited in capacity. Adding more battery power to these exoskeletons also increases the weight, cost, and viability of the whole concept.

On June 19, 2012 there was an article in the Wall Street Journal titled; "Fighting Form: Military Takes On Battery Fatigue" by Keith Johnson. The article discussed solar recharging, fast recharging stations, and Kinetic Solutions such as using the motion of the soldier to charge the batteries as they walk, not too unlike a shakable flash-light scheme.

Okay so, you can see this is a real problem, not a made up future challenge for this innovative concept. So what's the answer? Well, one answer might be to incorporate liquid batteries into the skin of the suit itself, allowing fluid to help balance and stabilize the entire system. In essence most of the exoskeleton would actually become a battery with hollowed out panels and parts. With the proper baffling system, such an exoskeleton would be even more stable than one without this type of battery strategy.

Some might say that's getting pretty tricky, but actually this technology already exists, and perhaps there are some military applications down the road as well. Nevertheless, this just goes to show you that there is always a solution to any a problem. And every innovator needs to realize this, while they proceed with caution, but refuse to ever give up. Please consider all this and think on it.

What is a Lawn Mower Air Filter?

A lawn mower is an essential tool for maintaining a beautiful lawn. Like any tool, it must be maintained and kept in good working order. The lawn mower engine runs on air, which flows through a filter into the carburetor. It mixes with the fuel before returning through the engine out of the exhaust muffler. The job of the lawn mower air filter is to prevent dust and dirt from clogging up the carburetor and engine. With use, the air filter becomes dusty and blocks the airflow into the carburetor. This leads to power loss and greater gas consumption.

Lawn mower air filters are made out of either paper or foam. A foam filter can be periodically cleaned and reused. A paper filter must be replaced.

After prolonged use, foam filters get oily and show an accumulation of grass and dust until they are brown in color. If the foam lawn mower air filter looks like that, it needs to be cleaned. That will happen approximately following 25 hours of operating time. Before changing the filter, the engine must be turned off. Disconnect the spark plug wire and remove the filter cover. The filter can be washed in lukewarm water and a simple household detergent. After washing, it must be left to dry completely. While the filter dries, the filter assembly itself should be cleaned. Then the air filter is soaked in clean motor oil, with all excessive oil squeezed out. The oil helps the filter collect dust and dirt particles and remain clean. Re-insert the clean foam air filter, replace the air filter cover and reconnect the spark plug wire.

If using paper air filters, these need to be changed according to owner manual recommendation. Between changes, however, the filter itself should be cleaned for optimal performance.

Keeping the filter clean and in operable condition is basic lawn mower maintenance which will extend the life of the mower.

The Missing Link In Your Holistic Healing Program

The word "holistic" embraces our body, mind and spirit levels of health and healing. We now know that the physical body often heals more quickly and completely when we include the mental/emotional and spiritual components of an illness.

But did you know that one of these three levels may be more dominant in you than the other two levels?

...that by focusing your healing efforts on your "strong suit" you will heal faster?

...that your dominant level, your healing strength, is your key in keeping you healthy as well as in healing you from an accident or illness?

Over 25 years of energy work and over 30 years of holistic health studies have shown me that each individual is predominantly a

* physical self-healer or a

* mental self-healer or a

* spiritual self-healer

and, on rare occasion, a combination of two with one being stronger.

I call these our "HEALING AFFINITIES."

Certain therapeutic modalities and practices belong to each category. When you plan a healing regimen for yourself, your primary focus should be on those therapies most closely matching to your self-healing affinity or type. To maintain a high level of wellness, you need to include matching therapies or practices on a regular basis.

For example, spiritual self-healers do well with homeopathy, prayer and aromatherapy, among others, but do poorly with prescription medications and deep tissue work.

These days, the choices in alternative medicine are overwhelming. It's easy to "try something new" and find it of little value -- not because of the therapy or the practitioner, but because the therapy does not match your self-healing affinity type.

Knowing your healing type is invaluable -- not only for healing and keeping yourself healthy, but so that others will be able to honor your choices and be supportive on your healing journey. It is very appropriate for a physical self-healer to take medication. But if he is living with a spiritual self-healer (for whom medications may be of little benefit, if not harmful), there may be a conflict that not only interferes with the progress of the physical self-healer but also hurts the relationship.

Now you can find out what your healing affinity is and get a list of therapies designed to work most effectively with your type and the types of your family members. You can also get recommendations on how to use this knowledge to keep yourself healthy, to maintain a high level of wellness. Not everyone does well with jogging. Not everyone does well with yoga. There is no "one size fits all" when it comes to health and healing.

I've developed a technique that reveals this information and have used it in my practice with great results. When my clients know their type, they are empowered to make the correct choices for themselves and have more success in their healing journeys.

"Cheryl's information was an eye-opener.

It explained so much, and I knew immediately

that it was correct." -- R.F., New Jersey

Spyware Blockers - Putting A Stop To Information Warfare

The war has begun. The enemies are getting into position as stealthily as possible. Sooner or later, they will spring into action, taking you by surprise. You will be conquered and you won't even know what hit you.

We're talking about the information warfare that is now going on in our country and all over the world. In these modern times of information technology, our most precious commodity is data. Most of our personal information are all in the computer. Our bank accounts can be accessed through the computer. Many businesses are totally dependent on data stored in hard disks. And this data is under attack by the spyware lurking in every corner of the Internet.

Spyware is the enemy in this war, and your computer system is the battlefield. To win the war, you need to have soldiers - snipers if you will - who can shoot down the enemy before they can cross your boundaries. These snipers are spyware blockers that can see and stop malware as they come.

To protect the valuable data stored in your system, you need to have spyware blockers ready to stop all kinds of spyware from entering your hard disk. If left unprotected, other individuals can steal information from you right from under your nose. You will not even be aware that there are spyware programs inhabiting your hard disk until the damage done is too great.

Spyware blockers act as your computer's sentinels. They vigilantly watch out for intruders that can damage your system. In the last few years, spyware has developed to be one the greatest threats in the information age. They surreptitiously attach themselves to files in our systems and slowly corrupt our files.

This is why spyware blockers are very important. Before the malware can even enter your system, the spyware blockers have already detected them and barred them from coming in. A good spyware blocker is able to recognize all kinds of malicious software - even the most recently developed ones.

Some of you might be thinking that you already have an anti-virus program, so you don't need to get a spyware blocker. That would be a grave mistake. Nearly all spyware cannot be detected by anti-virus program, as they are not really classified as viruses. Only the spyware blocker will be able to prevent them from causing destruction in your system.

If you want to be ready to put the information war to an end, be sure to take all the necessary steps to eliminate spyware. You must be discriminating as to which programs to download, and be wary of suspicious-looking emails.

To keep these malware away, one of the most effective protection measures you can take is to install a good spyware blocker in your system.
